About Our Programs

At Beth Sholom, our mission is simple yet profound: to enrich the lives of older adults in ways that honor Jewish values and traditions.

As our organization evolves into its next chapter, we are expanding our focus beyond physical campuses to support, fund, and launch high-impact programs directly within the community. Through strategic grants, local partnerships, and targeted outreach, we empower older adults to remain active, connected, independent, and supported across the greater Richmond area.

CAPABLE

Funded by Beth Sholom and operated through Jewish Family Services (JFS) Richmond, CAPABLE is a free, innovative program designed to help older adults function safely and comfortably in their own homes.

Through a person-centered approach, teams composed of an occupational therapist, a registered nurse, and a handy worker collaborate directly with individuals to identify their unique goals. By addressing both physical health and home modifications, CAPABLE empowers older adults to maintain their independence and remain in their cherished homes for longer.
